Album Notes

MISTER NEUTRON LOVES YOU draws on the group's devotion to the aggressive rock tradition of The Who, The Jam and Stephen Malkmus, plus the deviant instrumental tendencies of Los Straitjackets. To this they add a pinch of lyrical zaniness inspired by Canada's Dave Wilcox, They Might Be Giants and Cake, not to mention decades of immersion in Monty Python.

Who is Mister Neutron, you ask? Who are the savage young brutes who have stolen the hearts, minds and wallets of America's garage-rock community? Mister Neutron is Damian Fanelli (guitar, vocals), Tony Fanelli (bass) and Drew Paradine (drums).

This action-packed, 19-track CD features 18 originals, including "Naughty Bits," "Soledad O'Brien," "Go, Stinky Monkey!," "A Mod Proposal" and "Mrs. Neil Armstrong," which is about falling in love with the wife of the famous crewcutted astronaut.

MISTER NEUTRON LOVES YOU is four years in the making and 57 minutes in the listening. And everyone who hears their music repeats the same refrain: "To hear Mister Neutron is to fall in love with Mister Neutron."

Fun, witty and brilliant!
author: Robin McH., Alton, Illinois
OK, I must admit I haven't felt this giddy since high school. I Love Mister Neutron! They're fun, witty and brilliant! I've been listening to this CD for about two weeks now and I feel like I have an intimate relationship with Mister Neutron and keep having thoughts like you and me. Damian is a genius on the guitar. Every day, I have a new favorite song. At first I was hooked on "Hydroplaning," then "Pretty Green Thing." Now I can't get enough of "Atomic Supermen." After hearing this CD, I really don't mind calling Damian "czar" and promise no hoop earrings ever again! So, if you're ready to listen to great music, get in a good mood and possibly do some dancing, then buy this CD and enjoy the ride!!!!

Tight trio of talented musicians
author: Fat City Cigar Lounge
With a tight trio of talented musicians behind its sturdy, steady sound, MISTER NEUTRON LOVES YOU takes you in 19 different musical directions, all of them leading back to the roots of great rock 'n' roll. Especially strong are the blues and surf tracks that make you realize just how good these genres can be with the right people playing the instruments. The instros like "Danger: Diabolik" are surf/spy goodies, so you can tell they are leaning in that direction. This is the first and lesser known Mister Neutron album -- more indie rock -- like a less-frantic They Might Be Giants. Yes, this one has vocals. They evolved into a powerful surf instro combo for the next two outings.

An interesting rootsy style
author: Andy Smith, Pop Culture Press
This Cranford, N.J.-based trio fronted by brothers Damian and Tony Fanelli plays an interesting rootsy style that blends straight-ahead garage rock with roots and surf elements, with Damian's nimble and tasteful guitar playing deserving extra praise. They also wrap the whole package with a hefty dose of oddball and irreverent humor as evidenced in songs like "Atomic Supermen" and "Go, Stinky Monkey!" The record sprawls across 19 songs, which might be a bit too much for an initial dosage, but there are several songs here that are worthy of attention.
