notes

It all started with the much acclaimed full-length debut “The Mist of Avalon” that was recorded and produced
at the legendary Dug-out studio by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Misery Loves Co, Strapping Young Lad).
Pleased with the first outcome The Mist of Avalon continued to work with Mr Bergstrand and recorded yet
another release entitled Sleepless (MCD) After the release of the MCD (Sleepless) back in The Mist of Avalon
showed the world that they had lots of tricks up their sleeves, and lots more to come.
The full-lenght “Here and After” was released in late August of 2000. It has all the major attributes of
innovative metal, progressive goth, tinged with mysterious riffs and dark evocative undertones and beautiful
arabic themes. With a strong production like this and the unique sound that the band delivers
they clearly stand out as one of the most original acts in the goth-scene today. The responses received from all
over the world can not be mistaken, The Mist of Avalon has created and developed a trademark sound
consisting of attitude, tragedy and beautiful melodies. With a bagage of hits, The Mist of Avalon hit the roads
and after conquering Sweden, the band went on to play the prestigious WHITBY GOTHIC WEEKEND,
which led to two full tours in the UK, playing all over the country. In february when things calmed down their
latest MCD “Tears” was released. "Tears" consisting mainly of unreleased material with an exception of a
couple of new songs. Serving as direct supporting act to bands as THE 69:EYES (FIN), BEESECH (SWE),
THE GATHERING (NL), DAS ICH (D) and THE CRÜXSHADOWS (US) for off-shows and direct support to
bands as CLAN OF CYMOX (NL), NFD (UK) (former Fields Of The Nephilim) and LAST RITES (UK) on full
UK tours throughout the years has given The Mist Of Avalon an apetite for more and a hunger to make sure
the new album will be heard in every corner of the world. Working on their third album, together with two of
the best producers in Sweden (Daniel Bergstrand & Örjan Örnkloo), the album's getting close to it's
completion and The Mist of Avalon are once again ready to hit the roads as one of the leading live acts of
Sweden.

  • The Mists of Avalon Return!
    author: Vlad Gavius

It's been 6 years of silence from the Mist of Avalon camp, since their last release of the EP ‘Tears’ on the back of their 2001 album ‘Here and After’. I was fortunate enough then to see them live in a local pub here in England, they had travelled from their home town Uppsala Sweden and played a blinding gig that instantly made me a fan. So, has it been worth the wait you may ask?... The answer is Yes!! This 30 minute six track promo bodes well for an album release. My guess is that due to their absence these tracks have been written/re-written and revised over a long period of time making them each very individual and unique and they all sport the trademark Mist of Avalon catchiness as standard. The opening track ‘Sacrifice’ instantly shows that they mean business with bigger and better production, starting with catchy guitar and keyboard melodies, bass-lines and then Aram’s vocals pierce the skin deep really bringing it all together. ‘Said it All’ comes on almost like a late 90’s Paradise Lost number, I love the chorus in this one, “Makes it feeeeel, feel soo cooold…”. Then The track ‘Lies’ being the anthem of the CD (the video for this track is viewable on their site) gets your foot tapping right from the beginning, there’s also some nice female vocals here to be heard. The next track ‘Loosing Yourself’ is the up-tempo number here that really breaks loose and stands out. Moving on track 5 ‘Helpless Little Friend’ is a good staple charming Goth number. The final track ‘I Wish’ opens with a very eastern flavour guitar tune and again Aran’s haunting vocals before plunging the listener into another superb rhythmic M.O.A. number, this track has allot of texture with some tempo changes and the said eastern flavour guitar sound returning throughout. It has to be said above all else that The Mist of Avalon remain (and have done for some time) a criminally under-rated Goth Rock band that really has what it takes with superb writing and musical talent that is very apparent upon listening to their music. So if you like quality Goth Rock please look no further! It’s right here, give it a go. Gav UK
