NEWSPAPER REVIEWS:

MAY 7, 1996 THE DESERT SUN, Palm Springs, California
Written by Bruce Fessier the people/entertainment editor

CINCO AT MAYO'S: Bob Mayo, owner of Mayo's Supper Club on El Paseo, called Sunday's "Mayo's Musicale Concert" with singer MISTY BADE and the Paul Smith Trio, the pinnacle of his 47 years in the restaurant and nightclub business in Palm Springs and New York.

Smith staged a clinic on how to turn showtunes into jazz masterpieces and playing with tempos. Bassist Jim DeJulio enjoyed a lively interplay with Smith and shined with a solo on "It Never Entered My Mind".

MISTY BADE displayed a sultry alto and proved to be a good saloon singer on her final tune titled "Here's To Life".

PEAKING OUT: Mayo's owner Bob Mayo, called the Jazz Appreciation Music Society concert of May 5, the pinnacle of his 47 years in the dining biz. But he said Sunday's concert on May 19 with Pete Jolly and MISTY BADE may have exceeded that! "It took me 3 days to come down from the high I'm on from this one".

Jolly played the kind of swinging West Coast Jazz he and bassist Chuck Berghofer are known for along with drummer Nick Martinez. Singer MISTY BADE again concluded the concert with a sultry "Here's To Life" which she calls her favorite tune.

MAY 16, 1998 THE DESERT SUN, Palm Springs, California
Written by Bruce Fessier the people/entertainment editor

Everybody knows Sinatra called himself a saloon singer, and the desert still has a half-dozen saloons Sinatra would have loved.

In terms of the New York style saloon Sinatra loved, Mayo's Supper Club on El Paseo would be a hit. It features music by Sinatra's kind of jazz pianist, Vivian Grant and a sultry cabaret-styled jazz vocalist MISTY BADE, who appeals the way Billie Holiday and Mabel Mercer appealed to Sinatra.

SOUND CHECK: One of the jazz highlights of the season was
Carl Fontana's Wednesday gig at Mayo's Supper Club on El Paseo in Palm Desert. The veteran trombonist could have packed more power into some forte parts, but he showed remarkable technical facility, actually creating a flutter effect, and superb taste on cool ballads like "Baby It's Cold Outside" and swinging jazz standards like Count Basie's "One O'Clock Jump".

Just as noteworthy was the great rhythm section of pianist Bob Corwin, bass man Jim DeJulio and drummer Harold Mason, and singer MISTY BADE, who impressed Carl Fontana with her sultry renditions of "The Nearness Of You', "Tenderly" and "My Romance".

The nice thing is, MISTY BADE continues performing Thursday through Saturday nights at Mayo's. Info: (760) 346-2284.

Misty also sang with renowned trombonist Carl Fontana in 2000 and 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

*****************
Previously for 7 years, Misty performed every Friday and Saturday night at Mayo's Supper Club in Palm Desert, California, USA with various pianists. Her pianist for 2 years was Marilyn Spencer who played for many including Herb Jefferies and Cal Robertson.

Touching You, Touching Me is a perfect title for this recording and once you have listened to MISTY BADE sing these tunes, you will certainly agree.
