Album Notes

This band – together since April 2005 – has made a real name for itself in the Vancouver/Portland acoustic music scene. Collectively these women have decades of experience playing and singing in harmony. MISTY MAMAS serve up HomeStyle bluegrass filled with powerful harmonies, traditional and original songs as well as tasty instrumentals combining the American genres of bluegrass, old time, gospel, folk and country music. The MISTY MAMAS are Carol Harley (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin), Katherine Nitsch (vocals & guitar), April Parker (vocals, mandolin, accordion) and Eileen Rocci (vocals & upright bass). The band got its name from Carol Harley, founding member of the very popular local Americana Band, Misty River.

Eager to connect with their audience, the Misty Mamas tailor performances that not only entertain but educate as well. You might hear historical secrets and local lore woven in the music with songs from traditional bluegrass bands, female country icons and the old-time music of The Carter Family among others. The material is then laced tightly with songs from Newgrass artists producing a musical fabric rich with history, steeped in tradition and performed with exuberance and character from the heart.

You can travel far and wide, but you would have a hard time finding another band that has so much to offer, great picking, great songs, and singin that is so fine it will make you stop what your doin and just listen. Some of the songs are old favorites, and some are originals that are soon to be old favorites. Thank God for CD's cause if this was a record I would have worn it out, it hasn't left my player since I got it. Thank you Misty Mamas, this is just what the world needs now. Please keep it comming, I'll be waitin.

It would be so easy to just say "WOW how refreshing and what great singalong music" and it is, but I think it goes much deeper than just that. These women put their heart and souls into their music. They are not only talented singers, writers & musicians but so angelic in their deliverance. I am humbled and very inspired. Anyone can sing along cause it's All Good! Their music is fearless and fun. When these ladies sing and play, I get it! Each song tells a story and I love that. When I need to feel good fast or just want to get back to my roots I will certainly put My Misty Mamas/Wild Rose of the Mountain on. Thanks for giving us this wholesome music with great vocals and harmonies. please keep it coming.
