Mitchelle Tanner sang her first notes before she learned to speak, picked up her first guitar at age 8, wrote her first song at 12 and played her original material in public for the first time in a local bar with a fake ID at 17.

With musical roots steeped in the rich soil of inspired songwriters like Van Morrison, Fleetweed Mac, and Patti Smith, Mitchelle has emerged as a powerful voice, with a sound and body of work that expresses a depth of story and feeling that surfaces like hidden treasure.

In 2000, she released her first full-length CD of original material, Dawn of the Night Flyers, chosen by Performing Songwriter Magazine as a top ten DIY and praised as "... a song cycle that uplifts the spirit at every turn."

The Dark Horse Sessions is her second release.

Track 3, a love song titled "Dim the Lights," appears in the premiere Rockin’ Moms Compilation CD, available online at www.rockinmoms.com, and received an honorable mention in the 2005 Unisong International Songwriting competition.
