Album Notes

Vivid constructions of unpredictable guitar patterns punctuated by hyper-melodic bass and drum lines reveal the Mitchells' admiration for Pavement, the Wedding Present, and Polvo. The band hails from Northampton, Massachusetts - legendary home of Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, and the Silver Jews. Hear Where You Are (pgn 014) was co-produced with Thom Monahan (Lily's, Pernice Brothers); mixed by Mark Alan Miller (Stone Coyotes, Free Kitten); and engineered by John Truscinski. This is their first release on the Pigeon Records label and their sixth on Small Batch. Frontman Caleb Wetmore can be seen and heard regularly playing bass for another historically significant indie band, New Radiant Storm King. -from pigeonrecords.com

"The Mitchells have made an indie-rock Calder mobile, a funky balancing act that defies gravity: matching woozy, discordant guitar textures with rockingly snappy rhythms as endearingly off-kilter lyrics flit in and out of the clouds of fuzz and clang. Complex without mathy polyrhythms, atmospheric without shoegazy pretensions." -from 75orless.com
