notes
"Mitch was only 19 when I first heard him and he sounded good even then. These days, oh man is he tough!"
----- Kim Wilson
".......unbelievable; a great singer and up there with the best harp players I've ever heard. I'm knocked out!
----- John Hammond
"Your playing and singing are superb. Your cd is a real fine listen. Keep up the good work."
----- Charlie Musselwhite
"Out of all the younger generation of blues harp players, Mitch Kashmar is my favorite. He's also a first-class vocalist -- his singing really knocks me out."
----- William Clarke
"Mind if I sit in?"
----- Stevie Ray Vaughn
"This guy is like a double-barrelled shotgun, blasting you with both great harp and great singing --- the real deal."
----- Jr Watson
"....one excellent traditional harmonicist and alsoo a unique chromatic stylist. I've played with some of the best, from Paul Butterfield to Stevie Wonder, and Mitch is right there!"
---- Amos Garrett
"When I first saw him coming, he was dressed so sharp I thought he was a pimp.Turns out he not only looks good and plays the hell out of the harmonica, but sings great too. A triple threat artist!"
---- James Harman
"Mitch Kashmar is a monster! One of the very best singer/harpmen in the country."
----- Tom Ball
'.... leader Mitch Kashmar not only writes tunes in the best blues tradition, but also sings them authoritatively in a wonderfully fflexible, wholly unaffected tenor voice and blows a commanding harmonica that's especially chilling in its upper-register flights."
----- Lee Hildebrand
San Francisco Chronicle
"Mitch Kashmar and the Pontiax have the chops and soul to convincingly play the music they love."
----- Dan Forte
Guitar Player magazine
".... with the knife-sharp blues harp of Mitch Kashmar, their catching outburst of energy did not miss its mark on the expert public at Peer."
---- Belgium Blues Festival review
".... The combination of Kashmar's vocals and evocative harp solo made for a superb finale."
----- Don Snowden
L.A. Times
"Opening the show (Stevie Ray Vaughn concert) was Santa Barbara's own Pontiax , whose short left hook of a set nearly upstaged the main act -- certainly for witty soulful brevity."
--- Joe Woodard

Born in 1960, Mitch was still in high school when he began sneaking in with his brother's I.D. and playing with local bands in his native Santa Barbara, CA. He formed his own band, the Pontiax, in 1980, playing the clubs in the Santa Barbara and Ventura areas before moving to Los Angeles in 1985, spreading the band's popularity throughout southern california. Mitch and the band went on to record "100 Miles to Go" for Blue Sting records of Belgium and tour the blues festival circuits of the U.S.,Canada, Europe and the south pacific, drawing on a huge expanse of blues musical styles that include Chicago harmonica blues, New Orleans piano R&B, west coast jump blues and swing, boogie woogie, Texas guitar blues and straight ahead jazz.
Mitch and the Pontiax were also an extremely popular backup band, with the very special honor and experience of being onstage with many of the great ones including Big Joe Turner, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Lowell Fulson, Roy Gaines, Jimmy Witherspoon, Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Adams, John Lee Hooker, Pee Wee Crayton, William Clarke, Kim Wilson and too many more to list on one page.....
Mitch went on to record his own solo record, "Crazy Mixed-Up World" and tour under his own name, has two more cds in the can, has just finished a cd with Roy Gaines, played at the 2003 Chicago Blues Festival with Roy, the 2003 Portland and San Francisco festivals under his own name, and is currently on tour with guitar great Jr Watson.

Solid Blues
author: Jim Hodgdon JrI bought it for the title song, but every track is good. Kashmar continues what he started on his other CD's, this one digs into some nice deep blues cuts.
Outstanding vocals and band
author: Howard G.I have a ton of blues cd's, expecially with harmonica. This cd is now in my top 5.
Fat Tone!!
author: Kevin BLittle Walter is alive and well on this CD. Mitch does a great job with his songs, with just enough of Mitch's own style to make it diffrent.
