Mitch Rossell; formally, Mitchell Scott Rossell, released his debut album “Who I am” on August 25, 2008. Mitch wrote and composed all 10 songs on the album that reflect himself and who he has become in his almost 22 years on this earth. He was born September 23, 1987 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and still resides there today. Mitch’s father, and best friend, introduced music to him at a young age and sparked a promising flame within him that burns brighter today than ever. Tragically, his father was killed in a freak car accident that also killed his grandfather-in-law and his grandmother-in-law nearly 12 years ago when was Mitch was only 10 years old. As hard as it was for him to learn and grow, he found faith and accepted Jesus Christ into his heart his sophomore year of high school and was able to appreciate the better things in life. After graduating from high school he declined the opportunity to play golf on the college level and came to the realization that his father had taken his love and passion for music and passed it down to him. Just as his father had taught him to love music, he desired to share his love with the world; so he saved 250 dollars and purchased a Washburn guitar and took his first step on the road to fulfilling his life goal of reaching millions of people with his music and having a positive influence on their life.
He learned how to play relatively quickly and his instructor even noticed how quickly he excelled, before he knew it he had written his first song. Mitch’s love for songwriting and playing guitar has flourished so that now, one could find him almost anywhere making great country music. His music is a mixture of a timeless southern sound mixed with the modern country vibe of today. His voice and tone are captivating and his lyrics have the ability to grasp the listener and draw them straight into the music. He is the future of country music with the inner workings of a classic country boy. His hobbies include fishing, camping, riding his 4-wheeler, and of course, shooting guns. His softer side isn’t exclusive to his music; Mitch likes being outside, surrounded by God’s glory, and he loves to play golf.
After his freshman year of college he met Mark Gray, a hit songwriter whose work includes; “Take Me Down” and “The Closer You Get” by Alabama, “It Ain’t Easy (Bein’ Easy)” by Janie Fricke, as well as many others. Mark coached Mitch and helped him understand what it takes to transform a good song into a great song. Shortly after meeting up with Mark Gray, Mitch had the honor to meet and begin work on his debut album, “Who I Am”, with Phil Vassar’s drummer, Jake Caldwell. Jake employed some of his musician friends: Justin Williamson (Brad Paisley’s fiddle player), Terri Lee Palmer (Mark Wills’ former lead guitarist), and Matt Williamson (Keith Anderson’s former bassist) who worked diligently in the studio to create a wonderfully beautiful and timeless sound. Mitch’s album, which includes affectionate love songs and personal reflections, make the most of what it means to be country and contemporary at the same time. His life experiences of growing up quick and surviving devastating family tragedy has molded him into who he has become.
