Getting into the zone at the highest level. When its done right, it seems almost effortless.
Its the magic that we spend our whole lives searching for.
When it happens, when it gets into you, "oh what a feeling".
It gives you the energy you need to do what you want to do.
It starts with rhythm. When you get five individuals all playing their own rhythms, and yet all playing together, it comes together in a way no computer can generate.
Each person brings their own fire, their own restraint.
The great groups feed off each other. Its a spontaneous, creative energy exchange that makes everyone within earshot, a part of it.
Miyuki, "The Way I Hear It"
Your going to love this cd. Its got that feeling. It reaches into your chest and just grabs you.
Miyuki was born in Tokyo, Japan to a loving family. She began playing classical piano at age 4 and attended an art high school where she studied painting and graphics. By the time she was 18 she was singing jazz professionally in Tokyo clubs.
Miyuki used those opportunitys to become one of the most in demand jazz singers in Tokyo . That got her involved in everything from free jazz to classical. She makes it all sound great. Tokyo is an amazing place. Every where you look someone is trying to improve, to make it better. To find something new, something different.
That's the kind of person Miyuki is. She always looking for the best way to do something. She is constantly moving forward. That's how this cd came about. She was on a quest.
The band turned out to be pretty easy, but hey, this is New York. She wanted people who knew her music that she was friends with. Why not use the guys from Dr. Billy Taylor's Kennedy Center Trio, the great Chip Jackson on bass and the amazing Steve Johns on drums. That worked out nicely. Piano was easy too. Her good friend the unstoppable Joel Weiskopf was a perfect fit. On saxophone is the one and only Tim Hegarty. He also did a lot of the writing for the project. As always he tears it up. This guy does not disappoint. On trombone is the great writer and arranger Pete McGuinnes. Everybody makes amazing contributions to the project. Miyuki is going to excite you. It's all about trying to capture that feeling, to be that spirit. To experience the ultimate. Miyuki Hegarty will bring you with her.
