The Miz Bully Band

Keeping it Live.

Miz Bully Band is a five piece original Blues Rock outfit based in the Gold Coast Hinterland. In a time when most bands are doing it tough this band, into its fifth year together are going from strength to strength.
What is an Aussie Blues-Rock Band anyway?
For the Miz Bully Band this means great players and great songs and no unnecessary frills.
Described as having a ‘V8’ of a voice this singer/songwriter calls on her unusual childhood an life experiences for her original songs.

Although attending nine different schools in four states, Miz Bully cites Melbourne and Adelaide as her biggest musical influences. Add to that a gypsy family lifestyle and working as a registered nurse in such places as Palm Island and Arnhem Land and this powerhouse vocalist/songwriter justifiably claims unique experiences in penning her own brand of music.
Miz Bully talks about her songs. ‘There’s nothing too complicated with us. We keep it simple and try to mesh all our influences and past experiences but if you’ve lived life I think people can feel it in your music.’

‘A sense of humour has keeps me grounded. I think about crazy times like when we lived in a tent for a year and my father decided that we needed to convert from Roman Catholics to Mormons so that he could climb the corporate ladder of the company he worked for. That was interesting! I’ve had two major low points/illnesses in my life. One resulted in a cardiac arrest when I was very small and if you’ve seen that scene in ‘Pulp Fiction with the needle, well, that’s how they revived me. I think I’ve had my share of Blues and they say you can’t sing the blues if you aint lived em. That’s an old saying but it’s very, very true.’
Songs such as the Letter, (about the advent of the GST), Penthouse song (the Gold Coast high-rise lifestyle) and Katrina (for the victims of the New Orleans Hurricane) showcase the bands diversity.
Together with writer/partner David Tripp, a seasoned Adelaide born guitarist they form the nucleus of a band including guitarist Chris Harvey (a Londoner now living in Oz),Bassist , Illie Man (Italian/Australian Funk master) and the rotation of two excellent musicians , Pete Macfarlane (Sydney)and Hanumann Das (New York) on drums.
“We are all great mates with eclectic tastes but in this band we gel so well because we all connect on the good old , ‘lets have a great time and do a great show’ level.
What you hear on their CD is what you get live.
They simply love what they do and perform with passion for their music.

Recently appearing at The Toyota Gympie Muster on the Thursday Friday and Sat nights they were met with many comments such as ‘God its good to see a straight out great Blues/Rock Band. It reminds me of the old days ‘
