Tommy Duncan was a beautiful person as well as a great singer.  His easy going singing style pleases most and Billy Mize sounds just like him on many of these songs.  I too am disappointed that musician credits are not listed.  The first time I heard this was from a cassette tape copy given to me by Bob Wommack's family right after his funeral.  They said Bob was the trumpet player.  Bob Wommack was my almost big brother having lived with us for several years while he played at my parent's night club , the Southern Club in Lawton, Ok. Tommy Allsup in his autobiography "A Flip of a Coin" who also played at the Southern Club, repeatedly calls Bob, the best western swing trumpet player in the world.   Thanks for putting this on CD.  My opinion may be colored by the fact, I loved Bob and Tommy but I also love their brand of western swing and this is definitely a superb example.

For years this recording was only available direct from Billy(who ran out) and then offered off Merle haggard's web site.  I was told by Playboy band members that a vinyl  LP was issued also after it's recording in the early 80's.  Then Merle added himself for CD release later.  One of the Best ever recordings by the original surviving Texas Playboys with superior Billy Mize vocals  .  Merle plays the role of Bob Wills here hollering and calling out band members names during solos.  Wish there were credits listed on insert.  A MUST HAVE!

Prior to obtaining this CD, I mostly remembered Billy from some anthologies Capitol issued in the 1960s. None of the cuts on Capitol's LPs were swing. This is SWING at its finest, great songs, great instrumental backings and great vocals. What more could you want ??
