Album Notes

This Album of original songs by JM Jeune showcases his talent as a composer. The tracks vary from Pop and Reggae to Compas, and Antillian Zouk to Ballads. Jeune touches on a variety of subjects including the deploring 'Restavek' (child slavery) situation in Haiti. "This song really speaks to a lot of hearts, because it is a situation that everyone knows about, but it is too sensitive to speak openly about it. One can only imagine what these children go through. I cry every time I hear [that song]" says Elizabeth Pierre commenting about Delivrans, no.2 on the record. Jeune himself has seen the terrible effects of this. "You know," explains Jeune, "we live in a world where we [are] being told that things are getting better - but we still have a lot of undercover stuff going on and that has simply got to change. The people need hope." With songs like Jeunesse and Pa Lage, Jeune does just that as he encourages the listeners not to give up regardless of the situation; which is why he titled the album Mwen Jeune, (''I'm Young'' a play on his name as well.) "People need to see that there are young people doing good things too - you know. So here I am - one of them." responds Jeune.

But have no fear, the record is nont all political. Jeune shows his fun side with songs like Plezi Kretyen, Mesi Jezi, Ou Panse-w Rive, and Nwel Nou pa Piti. "I love doing Plezi [kretyen] live because the people love it and I just love to see them all dance to my music. Of course it is all for God's glory" he quickly adds. When asked why he chose to make his first album in French rather than English, Jeune did not even hesitate to respond "you gotta take care of your people first. And Haiti is where I'm from so it was really a no brainer. And it's so funny how all these English speakers are mad at me cause they can't understand [the words]- so I'm making this promise now. the next one is for ya'll!"

So enjoy the record!
