Winner of the "Best Emerging Blues Performer" award 2002
-OffBeat Magazine

"Even unplugged his music smolders"
-Times Of Acadiana

"...Nunez has the stuff to hold listeners without the longing for other sidemen...Yet, the best thing about all this is not the homage paid to blues gods or Nunez's accented razor sharp technique but just how natural everything feels."
-Offbeat Magazine

"Michael Juan has made a very fine debut disc showcasing his tasty guitar, intriguing songs and whimsical, always entertaining vocals. He's even better in concert. I think we'll be hearing great things from him for a long time to come."
-John Sinclair ( writer, musician, political prisoner, Assistant editor of Blues Access Magazine, radio personality WWOZ New Orleans)

"Impressive slide guitar, interesting style."
-Bruce Iglauer (president of Alligator Records)

The stretch of country that extends from the Mississippi Delta, on west to Austin, Texas is the breeding ground of the richest, most expressive music in the world. With each stop along the way-- the rural counties along HWY61, to the stops on I-10 -- New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Houston, Austin- each region puts its own fingerprint
on American music.

Stuck in the middle of all of this is a small town called Erath, Louisiana. This is where Michael Juan Nunez grew up absorbing the music around him. On his self titled debut Michael Juan Nunez paints with the colors of the gulf south.

As vocalist and guitarist for the Lafayette, Louisiana based group RiverBabys, he shared shows with acts such as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Taj Mahal, Indigenous, Jimmy Vaughn, and many more.

Now stepping out on his own, he has released an acoustic C.D. giving nods to south Louisiana, Delta and Texas style blues, as well as folk, that all seem to fit together like the ingredients in a gumbo. Season it with slide guitar, finger picking, and a soulful voice, and you have an argument for one of the best roots albums of the year, as well as a powerful live performer.

Wow, a new approach to the blues, imagine that !

I love acoustic blues. This album really captures a DIFFERENT vibe that I really like. It's blues....but with cajun spice. No offence to the technical wizardery of Sonny Landreth, but this guy is real! Real South Louisiana (even when doing the Mississippi stuff), real feeling, real voice, real guitar, really incredable.

Smoldering acoustic slide blues from deep south Louisiana.

After a long busy day, sit in a darkened room or on a deck at night with a bottle of wine and some candle light. Put on this CD and your mind will take you far away to a swampy land filled with Cypress trees, crickets, dark bayous, and acoustic slide guitar. Michael Juan's voice and style of acoustic slide will make you sing along and tap your feet to a rhythym all his own.

This CD is just amazing! I love Good life, Balance, and I think I've danced to King Bee at Antlers a time or two! He is so talented! This transplanted cajun girl just lapped it up and got homesick! Thanks....
