Death Or Life

by Michael Kearns

Honest, eloquent songwriting that ranges from gut-wrenching to hilarious; the musical grooves are eclectic in the manner of classic rock, with tinges of folk and blues, the lyrics incisive like Prine, Randy Newman and Bob Dylan - and there's a "live" feel

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Death or Life: rather than the typical \"sum of a thousand overdubs\" in today\'s antiseptic digital world, this CD is the sound of four people playing together. Its title arose when the band realized that half the songs on the CD mention death. A few song notes: \"A little rain\" is about L.A. Written long before The Office came to television, \"I loved you for a day\" is just one of several Kearns songs that depict the secret lives of bureaucrats. \"Coal Tattoo\": this classic by Billy Ed Wheeler is one of two songs on the CD about the terrors of unemployment – and employment.

Wow!
I must have played this album 50 times (and not just because I know Mike and the band), and I never tire of the songs, or the great presentation. Mike Kearns is a treasure. "Lose My Job" may be an anthem someday! Big thumbs up!
