About The Artist...

"I've been playing and singing music as long as I can remember". These are the words in which Mark Lavey has always spoken whenever asked the question when his love for music began. At the tender age of 5, Mark sang on a talent show in Granton, Wisconsin, his hometown, and from that point on, knew that music and performing was something he truly enjoyed and wanted to do.

Presently living in the Twin Cities, Mark is an accomplished singer/songwriter who plays, produces, and arranges his own music. With an adult Christian Contemporary flavor, his latest project and new CD, "Positive Thinking", is brimming full of life, meaning, priority and saturated with life's lessons, where each song emulates the CD's main title. "If I can reach ONE person within these songs of hope, and influence positive changes to ones life", Mark explains, "Then I've served my purpose through the grace of God". With the loss of their son during the summer of 2001, Mark's family has witnessed first hand the gift of life is very precious and fragile. "Life is a gift from God and often the gift of life itself is taken for granted", Mark says. Inspired by the recent happenings, his musical statements, smooth baritone vocal tones, and exuberance in each song are distinct examples of a man who cares about his life and love for others.

Most recently, Mark and some very gifted musicians performed his songs and promoted his ministry at Shepherd Of The Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN, a congregation of more than 7,000 members. Currently Contemporary Worship Music Director at SOTV, Mark received an overwhelming and emotional response from the congregation as he told his story, billing the evening as "A Journey Through Faith", to help promote Christian living. The evening was very reminiscent of a musical or play. As each song unfolded, so did Mark's faith-sharing story. "These songs were written at a very pivotal time in my life", where coincidently each song builds the next scene", Mark says. He finished the concert with a congregation-involved favorite at SOTV, "Jesus You Are", one of Mark's latest originals, which can be heard at the Church's contemporary service, The Table.

With "Positive Thinking" finished, Mark continues to work at marketing his music through performing and networking, where two of his songs are currently receiving airplay in the Twin Cities. A previous band member of the Pop Group, The Rembrandts, who performed the Theme Song from the hit TV series Friends, "I'll Be There For You", Mark can be found in his studio, writing new songs, nurturing the craft he began at the age of 12.

It was so moving and very empowering and emphasizes how we need to thank God for each day he gives us and how we need to call him into our hearts.
