notes
Melodic mojo. Ethereal bliss. SWAY is a sophisticated, sonically adventurous modern rock debut that's at once gorgeous, deep and fragile.
Driven by melody, embellished with sumptuous arrangements, and anchored by emotionally acute lyrics, SWAY is the moving solo CD debut by MICHAEL LORD, a remarkable new singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who draws quiet strength and inspiration from volatile relationships, intimate moments, and invisible scars.
The Apple iTunes Music Store declared, "Sumptuous arrangements in a fragile but rocking sonic embrace," featuring the track "Smile" as their iTunes Single of the Week an honor usually reserved for Major Label Artists.
Throughout his self-produced CD, Lord paints his delicate, heartfelt songs with lushly textured layers of sound. With soaring melodies always at the core, he creates engulfing soundscapes by recording instrument after instrument, and by dubbing his own three- and four-part harmonies. Most all of what you hear is him: guitars, piano, loops, percussion, and Lord's seductive vocals that rival anything you've heard.
"I'm endlessly inspired by what can be done with the piano," says Lord, a classically- trained pianist and drummer from the age of five until his teenage retro discovery of the British Invasion. Michael has since jammed in garage bands and major label groups, but it wasn't until he worked with producers like T-Bone Burnett and Eric Valentine (Queens Of The Stone Age, Lost Prophets, Taking Back Sunday, Maroon 5) that he began exploring new writing and performing techniques uncovering his own melodic voice and gift for powerful arrangements. His work has recently been featured in TV and film, including NBC's "Las Vegas," MTV's "Laguna Beach," "My Name Is Earl," ALIAS and "What About Brian."
SWAY features guest appearances from guitarist Yogi of The Wallflowers, Buck Cherry and Chris Cornell, master drummer Matt Laug (Alanis Morissette, Lifehouse, The New Radicals), and The Section Quartet, the premier rock 'n' roll string ensemble (Fiona Apple, Wilco, Christina Aguilera, Jon Brion, David Bowie, A Perfect Circle).
Come along for the ride. Just breathe it in and sway.

Michael Lord does a great job on this cd
author: www.GreatIndieMusic.comCd is very well done. Keep up the good work!
It rocks
author: B. BaileyAfter hearing some songs from this CD recently on Los Angeles radio station KLOS I bought a copy of it. Michael Lord is a talented musician and every song on here speaks to some long-buried emotion, doing it with style. There are some sure hits on here, but even the songs that I didn't love at first got to me on repeated listenings. If, like me, you are tired of the pop crap out there, buy this CD. Michael Lord is the real deal.
Artistry.
author: CHINASKI (www.cdbaby.com/cd/chinaski)Lord has a melodic gift that he displays with poise and power on this album. The orhestral density that envelopes these songs is a like a sonic color pallete. The music world has been waiting for this type of artistry for a long time.

Unlike the usual teenage boink music, the melodies here sink deep. Michael's vocals swell and invite us on a wonderful journey from nostalgia to creating new memories to savor. I believe Michael has geniused a new genre of music which fuses Pink Floyd loftiness with Counting Crows lyrical genius. If you love Trash Can Sinatras, you will love SWAY!
Best CD Ever
author: Suzie LyonsThis CD is amazing. The production is flawless and each song is a hit. When I heard Bleed I realized that Michael Lord had actually written my favorite song. It just doesn't get any better than this.
At least 3 #1 hits on this CD. I can't get the songs out of my head
author: Rick KatzIt is clear that Michael Lord connected with the hit making God during the production of his CD, Sway. After the first listen, I was left with the need to listen to it again. Then again. It was like seeing a movie that blows you away, then you know you need to see it again to get it and feel it deeper. Awesome job!!

Layered with interlocking textures, this giagantic, lavish, spine-tingling and swelling Brit pop sings like a reverberating echo dancing on the walls of a red rock canyon. This is ideal, pristine and absolutely glorious swirly bliss for the pop fanatic. At the same time, there's nothing fruity or plastic about these songs; they have tangible depth, a chasm like, bottomless, sinking "oomph" so that when the first lines hit your ears you'll simultaneously feel your head half catapulted through the ethers while your gut half drops through the floor like a dramatic rollercoaster dip. Seriously, this album will knock the wind out of you, suck your breath from your lips and make your mind spin. Featuring contributions from members of the Wallflowers and The Section Quartet, these full-bodied, juicy tracks are nothing short of phenomenal.
