Album Notes

The String Sessions features more intimate recordings of songs from Michael Lord's debut release, "SWAY." Yes, the strings are live, NO SAMPLES. Michael put his training as a classical pianist to use writing out these arrangements by hand. The strings are performed by rock's premiere string ensemble, THE SECTION QUARTET. They have accompanied the likes of Fiona Apple, Christine Aguilera, Bowie and Wilco. This is the perfect late night and/or "Sunday morning" complement to the full length "Sway" release.

A Melodic Centerpiece

What a sensational CD! "The String Sessions" brings me back the fond memory of listeing David Castle's LP Album "Castle in Sky" released in 1976, it is a fortune to have another great recording after 30 years.

You will "feel" along with the songs on this CD.

There is something about the way the instrumentation and Michael Lord's voice(s) come together which triggers major synaptic connections in my head... such that multiple emotions are stimulated and I find myself DEEPLY feeling the music. The first time I heard "What Have You Got To Lose" I was so moved by the memories surfacing that tears were trickling down my face. I figured it was a fluke, so I listened to it again... and again. Each time I listened to that song, I found myself re-emoting those failed romances... those unrequited passions. How is it possible a short piece of music can make me relive such a multitude of experiences? And yet, "What Have You Got To Lose" did that for me. If you want to FEEL the music, buy this one.
