Maria Lynch Time Between Times
Maria Lynch is a singer with 'a voice as clear as a bright spring sky' whilst her debut album 'Time Between Times' has been described as 'a collection of songs full of warmth and optimism'. Maria was able to record her debut album 'Time Between Times' when friends and family heard the songs at live gigs. They invested their time, money and faith into the production of a fifteen-track disc that would capture the delectable voice and powerful song writing talent that Maria possesses.
Maria's influences are easy to track - she first picked up a guitar at the age of sixteen after hearing Tracy Chapman's 'Talkin' About a Revolution'. Other influences include Van Morrison, Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows, Billy Bragg as well as the jazz greats she studied at Leeds College of Music. These influences surface on 'Time Between Times'.
The fifteen tracks on the album display a breadth of musical diversity from the life-affirming 'Days of Sunshine' to the torch-song-esque 'Feel You Close'. Each song stands alone as a statement of what it is to be human - to have hopes, aspirations, and ambition - laced with the simple emotions of joy, sadness, love and anger.
The album has received much critical acclaim from listeners in the UK. One critic said 'Time Between Times demonstrates a great talent from a singer/songwriter that - given justice in the world - would be a household name by now'. Interest in Maria and her music is growing with albums being shipped to the USA and Australia. Radio stations around the world are also requesting copies. All this, of course, helps to 'spread the word'.
Maria's website can be found at www.marialynch.co.uk. It is regularly updated and features gig listings, reviews, photographs, merchandise, mailing list and much more. I really rate this CD. I'm more into chart based stuff but this is a proper chill-out album with a kick in each song to keep you listening. I thoroughly recommend it to other users.

A great debut that demonstrates a great talent!
author: ANDY ROBERTS - Yorkshire Evening Post
Originally hailing from Royston, Barnsley, Maria Lynch is a schoolteacher with an inspiring ability to pen songs that could easily find mainstream success on the strength of this, her debut album. The market that springs to mind is the Tracy Chapman, Fairground Attraction, Beautiful South and Simply Red set. The, dare-we-say, more mature audience who can propel the talented unknown from a chance play on Radio Two to the top of the album charts through a zillion impulse supermarket purchases.
That's not a criticism by the way. Time Between Times works even for this cynical hack brought up on a diet of loud guitars, just as it would for the once in a blue moon album buyer who considers Norah Jones cutting edge.
Heavily influenced by Tracy Chapman, Maria has been singing in bands for years, but got fed up with the covers circuit and made the decision to go it alone, persuading friends and family to invest in this classiy recorded album. It showcases 15 well-structured songs from the heart that tap into an emotional vein and seem to become pleasantly familiar in just a few short spins. There With You is a smart contemporary ballad with a delectably lazy vibe whereas Clever Clogs is more soft rock. You get the impression there's a few demons to slay here and there in the delectably sung lyrics - do we detect a heartbreak somewhere along the line?
Whatever the case, Ms Lynch isn't going to be played for a fool or taken for granted anymore. Time Between Times demonstrates a great talent from a singer/songwriter that - given justice in the world- would be a household name by now."
