This is a root tracing journey through the foundation and meaning itself of Soul music. These are the type of songs and sounds that trace the journey of the music of a people struggling to survive, surviving and finally succeeding to triumph, in a society that would allow them nothing first as human beings, then as gifted people with something truly great to offer even to those people who would deny them. These are some of the songs that allowed them to feel good in spite of what was happening around and to them, the only real way of escaping the situation and truly speaking to the world around them, the music rhythm and the songs were the gifts that took them towards home, through survival to living and finally triumph.
