Raised in the lonely, drought-ridden wilds of rural southern Australia, and still out there somewhere, is an intensely private man who incubates a strange brew on his own. So what is it? Bent pop songs, thrash and 50-second grindcore blasts tell tales of rural decay and dead end jobs, escapist fantasies. Something very Australian. The first lo-fi grindcore artist? The Streets of death metal? Ukuleles, recorders, field recordings, cheap keyboards and drum machines dance around the walls of roaring metal guitars. The narrator name checks Melbourne suburbs North Balwyn, Mitcham and East Doncaster in the same song, details the inner workings of a printing shop or observes that “The Gun can be heard, like screams from a bird. While the faithful lose sight of life. Art is the only way, to be remembered”.
