Album Notes

The songs were recorded back in 1999-2000 with a music producer named Michael Costanzo from Long Island, New York. He produced, mixed and engineered the album. I co-produced.
Mike also worked on the music and I delivered all the lyrics and vocal melodies.
The photos used for this CD were taken by a good friend named Sylvek back in 2001.
The title LUCY Y FER was taken directly from one of the songs that the Mexican darkwave rock group Santa Sabina recorded. It was used as a subtitle for their song called La Garra.

This first CD has a special place in my heart because a lot of drama went along with it throughout the years I recorded it. Many demo CDs were created from the songs used on this record. Many opinions were given in regards to the direction I was taking on an artistic level. And many interesting replies were given in regards to my primitive vocal performance.

It was in 1999 that I decided to just let go and not be afraid to express whatever I was feeling at the time. I desperately needed to let things flow more naturally. That's where songs like Feminine Boy and Star were created. They were created out of frustration and anger I have to admit. The songs got so dark and intense that I wasn't afraid to express my despair even in a "satanic" sense. Of course all in a metaphorical way. I'm not interested in being all anti-christian per say but I will admit that I have some fascination with the subject of demonology. For better or for worse, I find the story of Lucifer falling from heaven dramatic and inspiring. To this day, I'm not sure if most people can really understand and appreciate that perspective.

Anyways, after I finished the recording sessions I hit a wall and found myself a little confused by what I wanted in music as a career. I had unrealistic goals back then and it took me about 4 years to realize that. So it wasn't until 2004 that I finally documented the songs officially on a CD.

REVIEWS

author: Demo Universe
"A marvelously moody electronic excursion from Marthyn. "The Voice In Me" is sweet and gloomy, with a surprising jazzy break; "Angeli" offers languid tropicalalia with a psychedelic haze; and "Piano" is an alluring collage of softly plunked Spanish guitar, warped vocals, scraping violin and thick beats. "The Skin Heals" shows Marthyn's gift for melody as well as his ability to make the most of an unspectacular voice. Soulful, inventive and transporting, Desafinado is an auspicious debut indeed!"-Demo Universe (reviewed CD demo titled Desafinado)

personal dimension of music

I have listened this album rather quick. To me, it seems to a be a special piece of work, reviewing a most personal and hidden side of the modern music. It is a very good mix between psychedelic influences,a personally melodic signature (a very original one)and poetic parts.A very beautifull garden...

Beautifully somber, with hints of optimism

On this CD, Marluc seems to unleash a whole Pandora's box of emotions. I like that he's able to express himself without restraint through his music. Very enjoyable debut. I look forward to hearing more from him.

Wonderfully Dark and Bright, Great Pulsing Dance Beat!!!
author: PhillygirlMusic
In The Beginning... Where The Day Takes You – Very cool guitar riffs. I dig this Song...very cool Music and Lyrical Theme Feminine Boy – I love this song. Very cool lyrics again, great beat, very expressive. Nice transitions in this Song. Gets the Point across, nice mixing, and back up Vocals/harmonizing, very haunting and heartfelt... Interlude:Light: This song, I am not sure what to think to tell you the truth.... (?) Some weird connection here, but weird can be good right? The Voice in Me - Another great pulsing rhythm, dance song...I really dig the beat of this song too...Great, twists and turns, cool Guitar, Simple Lyrics keep the Beat going in the Right direction.... Very Free wheeling tune, very Upbeat Song, great drums and keyboard work... Interlude - Very interesting “Jungle Beat Sound here”...I like this song. Very creative, and unique... :) Piano - Again, very interesting guitar tracks, and editing here, sound effects, Great Beat.... theme through this CD.... Whatever Marluc is trying to express, he does manage to get across to the Listener’s. A Poet’s Seat - Hmmm, Spoken word, very dark in theme. It’s good to express these things and Marluc comes through in the very, very, and darkest of ways. Star - The music resonates of the dark place where “A Poet’s Seat” leaves off. I like this track and the music. Again, a lot of spoken word, but the Music fits very nicely. The orchestration near the end of the song, makes for a very full bodied song all around. Interlude - Interesting sounds effects here again.....Cool!!!!!! The Skin Heals - One of my favorite songs also. This song reminds me of other well known Musicians (can’t recall the Name at the moment), but I really like this tune and especially the Lyrics and melody, and spacey music.....It’s very airy, light, free in Spirit...Spiritually, it is a very positive song Marluc portrays here. Nice Vocals Marluc/Your Voice is deep and clear/Sexy!!!!! Interlude: Desafinado - Nice guitar, spoken word again, there is a very Raw feel to this song, hopeful and yet Bright..... The End...The Dream - and in the end Marluc’s places all of the Demons in place. This may be one of the coolest collections of thoughts, dark and bright. Marluc holds on to Reality, while grasping the inner most dimensions of his Soul, both Dark and Light, in a very creative, different way which is quite unique. This CD will put you in touch with many unique emotions. It is like a Chamber of Horror and Delight, good and evil. Ultimately, the battle of the two, which one will win??? Each listener must figure this out for him or herself. Savage Garden - We're all in your Garden, and it’s a Positive one here in Lucy Y Fer’s Place. 4 Stars
