HI, I’m “Misisipi” Mike Wolf, a singer-songwriter from the Ray Davies, Kris Kristofferson and John Prine school of humorous but heartfelt lyrics and simple, hook laden melodies. I was born and raised in the blessed musical melting pot of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Near the city of New Orleans. jazz, early rock n roll, blues, early r&b and vintage country have never gone out of style in that part of the country, and those styles are played side by side at gatherings and parties. And the folks back home love a good party. Combine that wonderful exposure with an obsession for sixties and seventies rock music, and you might get another me. Though one “me” may be one too many. Listen to my songs and decide for yourself.
If you enjoy Merle Haggard, Roy Orbison or Bruce Springsteen, you may enjoy my music. Same goes for George Jones, Shane McGowen, Hank Williams or John Lennon. The most common comparisons are the aforementioned Prine and Kristofferson. Maybe one day I will write one as good as the countless great tunes those fellas gave us.
I mostly want you to have fun listening to my songs, but If I had to be scholastic about it here is what I would say. I write songs for singing along with in celebration of the joys and sorrows of getting by while dreaming of that pie in the sky. I write in a populist voice, it is who I am, though it might not fit with what is “popular” nowadays. However, I hope to tap the common vein of that runs through humankind, and not just a shallow attempt to cater to fads and trends.
Oh, and I want to make sitting in traffic a little less infuriating and parties more fun. I think my songs, at the very least, are good for those two things!

a nice refreshing return to traditional country music, far from the crap that's being dished out on "country" radio these days. Excellent song writing, wonderful turns of phrasing, catchy hooks, and a overall genuine album. Listen to the words, you'll find yourself in at least one of these great tunes.
