Album Notes

Called by critics "Minneapolis' Marshall Crenshaw", Singer/Songwriter/Multi Instrumentalist, Michael Nelson knew music was his calling when he picked up the drum sticks at the early age of 10. He spent his high school years behind the trap kit in various local rock bands including the First Avenue darlings A-Few. The guitar became his passion in college where he also began writing songs and formed the acoustic duo, The Sundogs, with fellow songwriter Chris Larson. Post college, Michael spent time behind the mixing board at Creation Audio refining his engineering and producing chops. Michael broke out on his own in the early 90's fronting the self titled Michael Nelson Group, headlining local clubs and opening for national acts.

In 1995 he signed a recording contract with OarFin records, releasing The Hunting Years. Shortly after, he joined up with the Minneapolis "rootsy rock band", The Hillcats, with whom he played bass guitar, and produced their third album, "Rocketship".

Michael resides in the Mpls area with his wife & 3 kids where he has spent the last several years working on the songs for his latest solo effort "Good Everything". His influences draw from such artists as Neil Finn (Crowded House), Aimee Mann (Til Tuesday), The Beatles, and Tears For Fears. The songs are very introspective and personal. It is easy to see the evolution that has taken place in his life during this period.
