Album Notes

Happily Ever Moey! A Fairy Tale Lark in Central Park, winner of a 2011 Parents’ Choice Award, will be available at MoeysMusicParty.com, CDBaby.com and on iTunes and will retail for $19.95. “A real treat…will appeal to all fans of fairy tales!” School Library Journal starred review.

According to The New York Times, Moey’s Music Party offers “pop music that parents can enjoy, too.” Time Out NY Kids calls the band’s songs “entertaining and educational tunes reminiscent of Schoolhouse Rock.” Mayor Bloomberg wrote Moey a personal fan letter saying, “Your CD captures so much of what’s great about New York City.”

In Happily Ever Moey! A Fairy Tale Lark in Central Park, Central Park is the enchanted forest where 15 beloved fairy tales come to life as colorful, fun, rocking songs featuring 65 New York City children. The music videos offer modern-day twists on classic tales by Aesop, the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson. “The Three Bears” becomes a parable about protecting the environment; “Little Red Riding Hood” rescues herself with a judo kick; and the true princess in “The Princess in the Pea” donates her 20 mattresses to the homeless, preferring to sleep on a king-size futon.

Moey’s clever use of Central Park locations include the Big Bad Wolf attempting to blow down Tavern on the Green, the country mouse and the city mouse noshing from a hot dog cart as well as Sleeping Beauty holding court with her maidens at Belvedere Castle.

“Marlo Thomas and my Aunt, Wendy Wasserstein, equally inspired this project,” says Moey (a.k.a. Melissa Levis), also an award-winning Off-Broadway songwriter. “Free to Be You and Me rocked my world. Much like Wendy's plays, there was an undeniable political message underneath the laughter.
I want to delight children with frothy songs while empowering them with new models for gender roles and conflict resolution. Sort of like Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, there's spinach inside these bonbons."

Moey earned the moniker “the Pied Piper in Pink” because she entertains thousands of children throughout New York City from The Tribeca Film Festival, to Williamsburg Waterfront, The New York Junior League, The New York Public Library, and more. She created Central Park’s Sandbox Sing-Along series and rocked Off-Broadway with Moey Live – P is for Party!

Moey's Music Party classes are the #1 mommy-rated class on Nickelodeon's ParentsConnect.com.
Every class introduces songs, instruments, dress up, phonics, and fairy tales based on a different party theme. Summer classes meet in Central Park on Wednesdays and Thursday from June 29 – August 11.

Additional songwriting credits include Ooh La La Hamptons, which will be released as a dance mix on July 4th. In addition, she co-wrote songs with ‘80s rocker Billy Squire and has written custom songs for 2008 Presidential candidate Bill Richardson, former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and actor Eli Wallach. She is a graduate of Brown University and holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University.

Great, Fun DVD!

We love the DVD! It is so much fun to watch and it is nice to see real people, and not cartoons for a change. If I wasn't already a New Yorker, it would make me want to move here. Thanks for making such a fun video! We wont mention that I cried during the "Goodbye Goodbye" song over the line when you show the Dad w/his son & then the Mom w/her daughter... :). Thanks for bringing our backyard (Central Park) into our living room.
