ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With hot-rod imagery, demented surf guitar licks, and leather-clad southern regalia you'd think the Mofos were from Nashville, not New York. But a listen to their music makes it seem like they're from another planet altogether. Combining elements of Dick Dale, Link Wray, the Ventures, Motorheaed and the Ramones, the Mofos have created a genre unto themselves. Call it "Surf-instro-Metal", call it "Spy-fi Spaghetti Western", but better yet, don't call it anything at all, just pop this disc into your CD player and experienced a sonic assault that's as visceral as it is original.

Composed of lead guitarist/songwriter Gary Siperko, bassist Eric Trichon, and drummer Brian Wilson (yes, that's his real name), the Mofos have been making a name for themselves in their hometown and beyond with their top-notch musicianship and original compositions. Most notably, Wilson also plays with Munich Records recording artist Johnny Dowd. But the Mofos are where these musicians can really let loose, as anyone who has witnessed them live already know firsthand.

As you're listening to the record, picture this: Siperko hunched over his Fender Strat, schreeching distortion out of his tube amp, while Trichon's pounds out distortion-laden bass lines, and Wilson's seemingly effortless rapid-fire drum fills raise the level of urgency so high that at any moment you think that the stage might burst into fl;ames. The group have just recorded sixteen songs at the legendary Pyramid Studios with Alex Perialas (Bad Religion, Anthrax)

What is stronger than kick-ass?
Combines what I would have to call power-surf with heavy hard rock. The guitar is great. The bass is great. The drums are great. Combined you end up with more than the sum of parts - these guys just plain rule. See them live if you EVER get the chance.

Great stuff!
You get what you bargained for with this CD: all of the mentioned above talents (under Notes) wrapped into one band. Fantastic CD!

An instrumental kick in the pants.
One of the ongoing complaints about alot of surf and instrumental rock is that, after awhile, it all starts to sound alike. Reverb, tremolo swells, snare rolls and glissandos a go-go. Well, what if you took that formula and gave it to a balls-out, rawk'n'rawull band? You'd have this cd, right here. This cd is like surf rock with a battery-acid-enema.

Music for alarm clocks
If this music doesn't get you up then you are dead! Satan A-Go-Go is my favorite song. A sample is on the Mofos website. Evil heavy punked out surf music. Heard them live on WFMU and ran out to buy this album.

...And The Horse You Rode In On. I heard the very end of this song on Devlar Surf. I had to have it. I will be buying more Mofos, right here from CD Baby. Thank you for the quick shipment. You guys rock.

In a Nutshell ........
1 part Ramones, 1 part Dick Dale, a pinch of Dead Kennedys, a slice of Link Wray and a shot of scotch. Throw it all in a blender and serve LOUD. Fantastic CD... can't wait for their next release.

I love surf rock power trios. In short: this album is exactly as advertised above. If that sounds good to you then buy it, it'll be the best ten bucks you spend all year!
