This CD introduces you to Bulerias, one of flamenco’s most exciting and fluid forms. Whether you’re an experienced flamenco dancer, guitarist or singer, or just starting out in flamenco, these tracks will be useful tools for you. We know this because we use them ourselves every day. Below, we offer an excerpt from the booklet that is included with the CD to give you an idea of what this CD and 24-page booklet set has to offer. "We begin with a complete bulería, including cante, guitar falsetas and a footwork section. We also provide the same track without cante. We then provide over an hour of practice tracks for you to perfect your cante, baile, and toque. Finally, we include slowed-down versions of the guitar falsetas. The llamada is used to indicate the beginning or the ending of a passage or to call in other performers at a particular moment in the piece. Because of their essential role in holding everything together, llamadas, whether in bulerías or in other palos, have fixed characteristics that distinguish them from other moments in the music. In the case of a bulería, the most easily-recognized feature is the quick, descending interval the guitar plays on beat 12, a minor third." Mojácar flamenco is a contemporary flamenco ensemble in the Los Angeles area where we've been teaching and perfoming for over 15 years. The Flamenco Básico series grows directly out of those experiences.
