ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Mojomatics are a hard charging five piece blues unit that has been performing throughout the northeast for more than a quarter century. This is their long awaited debut cd. It garnered immediate attention when it was chosen as the Connecticut Blues Society submission to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis for “Best Independent CD Release of 2006”. The sound is a unique melding of varied regional blues styles, primitive rock & roll, and funk-fed soulful grooves. But they just prefer to label themselves as “dance blues and trance blues”. The band features two veteran guitar slingers who seamlessly lay down a solid wall of sound, a rock steady rhythm section and husky harmonica front and center. Several songs showcase group harmony vocals suggesting a nod to their R&B roots. With the exception of two covers,(one blues warhorse and one semi-obscure soul classic), the numbers are original tales depicting misguided machismo, debauchery, overindulgence, paranoia and love gone wrong...all told with the tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that pervades this disc.
