Moker Jarrett with Lucky Stiff, a Jacksonville Florida based power trio is a collection of veteran performers. Moker Jarrett from Jacksonville: guitars, lead vocals, & songwriter, cut his teeth on Skynard, The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, George Benson, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, etc. These influences fuse to form a style that is recognizable as the artist’s own. Radio Rock with catchy choruses, great guitar licks, and a groove that makes you want to hear it again. Combined with the “That Rhythm is Cookin’ Rhythm Section” , these smooth talents come from years of entertaining and help make this music “Ready to Fly.”
Jim (Slim)Rohl, from Cincinnati drums: holds down the back beat with some great chops of his own having studied Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, and Journey on his way up through the ranks. Now having found a niche where he can put those chops to good use, Jim is in his element laying down a beat that only comes from years of making people shake their stuff.
Bad “Billjuan” Billy Smith, from Philadelphia: bass guitar, & harmony vocals, makes his second run with Moker (the two were formerly in a group “One Track Mind” that entertained east coast college crowds with Top 40). Bill puts out a thump holding down the bottom end that drives the band from the bottom up. Pickin’ up his chops from a lot of the same influences as Moker, the two are like “a brother from another mother” when it comes to makin’ catchy music.
There were a couple of tunes on this CD produced by Lou Rubino, ( Flock of Seagulls, Story Side B). Lou was signed to SONY after just 2 cuts were completed and started touring extensively and as they say “the show must go on”. It was great working with such a talented producer.
East Coast piano legend Will Hurley was called in to do some studio work on the CD. Will plays on 3 of the cuts, you’ll know which ones, and will be a fan of his as well once you hear his work.
Moker Jarrett with Lucky Stiff, a group committed to having a good time, writing cuttable original material for the pop/rock and country crossover markets, and stayin' true to our roots of music with a groove. Music should make your body move! Rock on and enjoy the music of Lucky Stiff.
