Christian Collin and Molasses' self-titled debut combines modern rock sensibilities with the soul of traditional blues to create an exciting mixture of original material. Fronted by singer-songwriter-guitarist Christian Collin and featuring harmonica ace Michael Casey, Molasses is a truly unique and authentic rock n' roll band in this era of generic alternative rock. You won't find any drum machines or sequencers, sampling, slick vocal harmonies or orchestrated strings here. This music is pure and unadulterated---loud guitars, in your face vocals, raw harmonica solos, and pounding drums and bass. Did we forget to mention strong songwriting as well? The band's musical focus reflects intelligent lyrics, strong hooks and inspired instrumentation. Having recieved a number of rave reviews for their debut album, Chicago based Molasses is hard at work honing their musical skills and impressing audiences along the way. Their energy is intense and their rhythmic sensibilities are addictive. Check it out as soon as you get a chance!

Authentic Blues and Southern Rock
author: Terrence Flamm, Illinois Entertainer
Molasses serves up authentic blues and southern rock that comprise its self-titled CD. Lead vocalist/guitarist Christian Collin provides a strong presence up front, and he writes all of the band's material. Despite their name, Molasses cuts loose with some energetic jamming. The country rocker "Dream" establishes the dynamic relationship between Collin's guitar firepower and Michael Casey's harmonica playing, and the pair sizzle on the straight ahead blues of "Highway Song." "Right Hand Man" sports a slower, bluesy arrangement that recalls David Crosby's "Almost Cut My Hair."

Blues Inspired Rock!
author: Gert-Ove Fridlund, Hollands Posten (Sweden)
This blues inspired rock is performed with agressive energy, a raw strength and intensity that reminds me a bit of Jack Bruce. Molasses seems to have been listening to a lot of Mountain, Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers and the James Gang lately. At the same time, they definitely have their own person style.
