Molehill has had a very busy year. The chicago-based band released their debut album, \"Rock and Mole,\" and have since appeared in 2 Chicago magazines, won a 30-band battle of the bands, and opened for international-act Blind Melon.
Molehill was formed in late 2004 and have gigged regularly for the past 4 years all over Illinois. Originally based in Champaign, they have since moved to Chicago, and have begun to put their stamp on the Chicago music industry.
Molehill is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Peter Manhart. Peter has a knack for unique songwriting and meaningful, interesting lyrics. Molehill\'s explosive live shows combine Peter\'s showmanship and passion with tasteful improvisational solo guitar sections and upbeat, high-energy rock and roll. The band never takes a night off, and the fans always leave satisfied.
With a wide range of musical styles, Molehill pride themselves on never playing 2 songs that sound the same. With influences ranging from jazz to blues to classical music to surfer rock, Molehill has the kind of sound that is at the same time familiar and unique.

great stuff

This is a rock album with range. It carries the listener from the rock stomp of "Let's not get sentimental" to the Santana-esque "See you later" to the acoustic vignette "Be my friend," the latter of which has lyrics reminiscent of Depeche Mode's "Somebody." Throughout, the record exudes authenticity. The music is fun yet serious, the lyrics sincere yet smart (and occasionally cheeky). Highly recommended.
