Album Notes

Molly Irene produced and released her first CD, "Sing For You", in September of 2001. The record was created as a collection of older and more recent recordings spanning 1997 to 2001.
Her earliest recordings consisted primarily of local musicians from Kansas City and St. Louis and recording engineers from the University of Missouri. These recordings hold a special place in her heart, as they represent some of her finest and most spontaneous creations. The recording process is a gem as it is organic, raw and analog.
"Only One" was one of her first songs she ever wrote, and has become a clear fan favorite. A truly inspired creation; Molly claims that "it literally flowed out of me, and the meaning and purpose of the song arrived much later." The song deals with the degeneration of the mind as a result of Alzheimer's (the debilitating disease from which her grandfather suffered). Originally, the title song "Sing For You", was never intended for the album. Molly improvised the song as a warm-up, but it proved to be the best tune to describe her life as a female artist.
After college, Molly returned to St. Louis to further her music career. She took part in several promotional shows and secured support dates for local bands. The following year she journeyed to Ireland to feed her muse. Molly backpacked with her CD's while busking on the streets and in the pubs. The fertile folk music culture of the country provided great inspiration - not to mention a historical resonance- to her work. Molly's own "Sing For You" was the most requested title at every show. "I Am a Tree" has also been used for a fund raiser as the theme for growth. "Dulcimer Ditty" is the top selling song by Molly Irene ....take a listen and you'll learn why.
She continues to spend session time producing and writing originals.
