notes

"Venter sings, like most young writers, about relationships, what's striking about her work is her awareness of her place in the struggle. There's a surprising lack of blame and judgement here; a real search for meaning that should touch listeners of all age."
- Andrew Calhoun, Waterbug Records

"One CDBABY reviewer writes; 'Few singers turn first time listeners into eternal fanatics as effortlessly as Molly Venter; her voice is an unbelievable burgundy, many notes, flavors, fragrances and it all goes down like silk.'"
-American Songwriter Magazine, 2006

"Molly Venter's deep, soulful voice seems larger than her small frame could possibly produce. See her perform live, though, and one learns that her stage presence magnifies her, steals any show and demands attention."
-Idaho Mountain express, 2004

Hi! This is Molly. I love writing and singing for people. I love to dance and read and walk around new places. I've spent formative years in New Haven, CT, Western Massachusetts and Vermont, Ketchum Idaho, Austin Texas, and most recently, Guanajuato MX. Now all I want for Christmas is a camper van, a cellist and a percussionist; I've got the atlas.

Many many thanks for the support of my family and my friends.

Molly came to play at our youth facility in Denver. The album 777 has not stopped playing in my office. I love the way she interacted with the residents. It was an amazing day. Broken String

This CD is very good. But seeing Molly perform live is beyond words. I saw her perform briefly today and once again was held spellbound.

  • This is so profound and true to life...
    author: Eva in Alaska

I really appreciate the music because in an age when anyone can become a popstar with enough computer help, this is so refreshing and raw in a real way. Thank you for your contribution to the world of music.

  • original, soulful, luminous music
    author: juliet wyers

Just heard Molly, at the Kerrville Folk Festival -- I've heard hundreds of singer-songwriters in the few years since I started writing and performing -- Molly is remarkable, deeply original and a sweet, soul-pouring performer -- this CD reflects that very well -- a simple, clear recording of a shining, unique talent.

  • Spiffy!
    author: J.O.

I heard Molly's song "Walking Backwards" on Warren Miller's 2005 ski flic, and loved it, had to know who it was. So I eventually figured it out, and now I have her CD and have been playing it daily since I got it. I live in northern Idaho, good to know there's someone talented living nearby. Good job, girl!

  • moving, wish i could see read the lyrics

  • A voice that sends shivers up and down your spine
    author: Dr. Brian A Schwartz

Molly's voice is like a an unbelievably great Burgundy....some many notes, flavors, fragrances and it all goes down like silk. Her vocal and musical depth remind me of the young Buffy Saint-Marie and Joan Baez but with the edginess of today's searching Millenial generation. Only great things are in front of her....and we are all fortunate to be drinking at her table.

  • molly this makes me miss you!

  • More people need to hear Molly!!!
    author: Shawn Weagle

Wow...where do I start. How 'bout this...I first heard Molly's CD in Idaho after a friend was amazed by her powerful voice at a March performance in Sun Valley. I have been hooked ever since (it's June now), and literally still don't go more than a few days without finding myself drawn to Molly's music. It is not common to have a CD where every song, every word connects with you in the way Molly's work does. Every friend of mine who's listened to it agrees. This woman has an amazing amount of talent...which no doubt will be noticed by many if and when the right people hear her beautiful music.

  • A warm hearted, graceful debut from a truly uncanny musician.
    author: Mark E. Lee, M/L Productions::NBC/Universal

Few singer/songwriters transform first time listeners into eternal fanatics as effortlessly as Molly Venter, who - while epitomizing the art of originality and creativity - naturally comforts her audience with the feeling of warmth and familiarity in this, her debut album: a recipe of voice, lyric and song so passionate and soothing, you will simply long to fall in love... ...perhaps even with Molly herself.

molly knows how to write, knows how to sing, and knows how to play. combining them all in an amazing cd, molly shows her compassion and musical talent, and a glimpse of things to come.
