Album Notes

After 30 years of backing some of the top artists in contemporary jazz ( George Benson,Natalie Cole,Al Jarreau,Joe Sample,The Crusaders,Hubert Laws),and recording 3 solo cd's in the contemporary jazz genre, this guitarist decided to pay homage to one of his favorite areas in music, ( Standard Jazz Guitar ).Serving as George Benson's backup guitarist, his love and knowledge for this genre intensified through the endless months and years spent touring with Benson receiving what the artist describes as "A World Class Real Life Education" directly from one of the true masters of the subject. The listener will instantly hear familiar sounds and feelings while listening to this set of works, and yet these are all brand new compositions written by the artist.Recorded live in the studio with a core quartet featuring the artist and pianist,Chris Ho,bassist Matt Van Benschoten, and drummer Dave Rennick,it was the aim of the artist to honor the approach of the Blue Note era in the more live sounding texture. With guest appearances by Larry Williams ( Tenor Sax ),Walt Fowler(Flugelhorn),and Lynne Fiddmont ( Vocal) the focus is on the taste of the compositions which the artist deeply thanks all the musicians involved for bringing to life.
