Album Notes

KELLY MONEYMAKER

Kelly Moneymaker's second CD "Through The Basement Walls" is a collection of rootsy, 60's inspired rock songs. The album title refers literally to Moneymaker creating the songs and early demos for this record in her basement, but the earthmoving tones in Moneymaker's vocals suggest another meaning. She's a woman with serious soul-her colorful voice and lyrical depth seep through the basement walls of Soul itself.

A theme emerges through the songs that can be heard as a reverse echo-the cry that increases in volume each time it is repeated, urging the listener to "Let It Go!" Moneymaker seems to be saying, it doesn't matter how you choose to do it, whether it's driving away in your car, making angels in the snow or writing it all down, just release the crap - anything that keeps your spirit from dancing. The psychedelic aspect of much of the record harkens to a time when youth was as wise as it was innocent, love was free and rock-n-roll was a matter of constant reinvention.

Kelly Moneymaker came out of the womb singing in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was touring the "lower 48" by her pre-teens which ultimately landed her in Los Angeles and the platinum-selling pop-trio, Exposé. She's since founded her own label, Midnite Sun Records and began producing herself and other artists as well. Her first album, "Like A Black Bird" met critical acclaim and made the Top 10 and Most Added on The Gavin Charts with her first single release "Grievance".

"Fact is, Moneymaker is one bizarre, enchanting, haunting, strangely seductive singer-songwriter with an album that demands to be listened to..." --The Music Scene Magazine.

The first single "Can't Live Without Your Love", is featured on NBC's Days of Our Lives as Bo & Hope's new love theme (#2 on New Music Weekly's AC40 chart). "Angels In The Snow" recently charted at #87 on Billboard's Single Sales chart. "All In Your Head" a dreamy, psychedelic ballad hit #3 on New Music Weekly's AC40 chart.

2004 will find Moneymaker bashing the create flint for her next solo cd and producing female rockers, Jacked Up Betties.

An undiscovered gem

All-around GREAT CD. Diverse in its offerings but not senselessly random either. The retro-rock-meets-today-pop grooves are highly infectious especially on All in Your Head, Happy People, and Sleeping in the Sun. It's CDs like this that make you wonder why the labels aren't all over her.
