The new Mongrel Mix EP was recorded by Grammy award-winning producer John Seymour at Architekt Music, a new studio and venue in Butler, New Jersey. Drawing from a range of the band’s material, Seymour expertly crafts an upbeat take on Mongrel Mix oriented more towards Pop music than previous albums. “Between Me and You” stands out with its complex arrangements while the other featured songs cover a range of musical territory, solidifying Mongrel Mix as more than just a one-trick pup.
The group records, writes and rehearses at Fulcrum Audio, a recording studio owned and operated by Preston just outside of Philadelphia. Barry Preston fills the role of guitarist and lead vocalist, Ted Pileggi plays bass in dialogue with the vocals, Greg Jones incorporates a range of intense drum styles ranging from post-rock to old school R&B, and Ed Wagner performs on keyboard, organs and computer samples.
