It wouldn't be strange to find Monica walking down a crowded street singing song ideas into her cell phone. "I tell the songs that it's more convenient for me if they come out when I'm in front of my keyboard, but they generally don't listen."
She's been playing her music for a loyal and steadily growing fan base since 2005. She has an unusual ability to charm her audiences. Her performances are intensely engaging. Her voice; clear and piercing. A fellow musician remarked after her last gig, "I've never heard so much spontaneous applause!" She keeps you on your toes with unexpected moments of comedy. The level of comfort that she displays on stage can be traced back to her extensive musical theater experience, growing up part of an extremely creative community of artists in her home-state of Ohio.
Not just another singer/songwriter on a piano. Her clever, sophisticated lyrics and indie styling is infused with pop hooks that you can't get out of your head. Throw in rapid-fire hip-hop-esque vocal breakdowns, magnetic stage presence, and you have a distinctively unique and entertaining artist.
Her writing has been developing for years. "I spontaneously wrote my first song when I was five. My mom has it on tape. It's a horrible song. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but the hook isn't half bad."
Always reinventing and honing her skills, she recently stretched herself by purchasing an iMac, the program Logic, and a plethora of recording necessities with which to open up her world to recording and producing. She just finished "Super Serious September" - the month in which she successfully produced and recorded her own 3 song Demo consisting of the songs Landmine, Elephant, and Halfway.
In NYC, she's played many venues including but not limited to The Bitter End, Googie's Lounge over The Living Room, Snitch, CBGB's Gallery, The Underscore, and The Duplex.
