Album Notes

Monique's award-winning style is uniquely classified as nouveaux soul with a semi-acoustic and sassy flair. Identifying with her music is frightfully easy as she articulates the deep thoughts and experiences that so many have endured. Relax, get angry or cry as one thing is for certain, you will FEEL when you listen to any of Monique's songs.

Monique's self-titled debut CD features tracks such as Take Me Home which tells the story of the end of a relationship. She writes, "It's funny how you think people love you, I don't believe it's true." The track Mr. Blue further reveals "I am strong enough to take what you've given me." Her debut CD is raw and full of emotion, with something for everyone.

WAKING UP, Monique's second CD, was released just one week after September 11, 2001. This group of songs take you deeper into Monique's heart where you can hear desperation and solitude with her soulful expressions. This is captured with songs such as Somebody when she sings, "Somebody cure my pain and set me straight again." Monique again tantalizes the keys and listeners with her unique and prognosticating lyrics in I Don't Owe You Anything when she boldly writes, "I know you don't believe, but you are going to be my next fatality." In 2003 her song Waking Up was selected by Goodnight Kiss Publishing (BMI) for release on a compilation album entitled HIGHS & LOWS.

Monique's 3rd CD is a seriously refined continuation of melodic moodiness with a bit of groove. Co-produced with Alan Sanderson and incorporating the musical talents of bassist James East and percussionist Alan Phillips, this CD is a heartfelt tribute to all that she holds dear. Three of the tracks from this upcoming CD are already available on this Grape Soda CD Sampler with the full album to be released in the future.
