Album Notes

monkstrap has been making lo-fi recordings for the past twenty years. To date there have been only two albums to surface, the disturbingly beautiful 2005 release of "songs of bexar county" and the equally haunting 2009 "bentfolk". The songs are two minute snapshots that span from the relationships formed at last call to the despair that results when you realize your dreams will always be just out of reach. Each story is held together by a crude finger picking style that only adds to the eerie path the stories take you on. . monkstrap has a knack for imagery and although the context is often times dark, it leaves the listener with an unexplained warmth.
