Album Notes

You will hear something familiar about Noel Hogan's Mono Band, for the trademark, ringing guitars and fluid melodies bear the unmistakable imprint of his years with one of the world's most successful bands, The Cranberries.

But his new music sounds fresh and different, too, from the subtle electronic touches and inventive programming to the wide and varied range of singers who give voice to his songs on the Mono Band's debut album.

"...With any arty/experimental indulgences being reined in by Hogan's deft knack with a melody line, there's much to absorb and intrigue here as the layers of sound combine to produce resonant new music that has Mercury Music Prize written all over it. Surprising and very rewarding - side projects aren't supposed to be as good as this." -Irish Times, May 20, 2005

"...Carving out a small universe with each track, they push the boundaries of each world without overstating, without exhausting the inspiration, seeking out the life behind a single chord, a naked melody, an exposed harmony clinging to meaning. "-CD Baby, May 2005

"...The combination of sound and lyrics ensure that these songs really get under your skin, so much so that you'll find yourself putting the CD on repeat. Yes, it's that good." -RTE.ie, May 2005

I was dismayed, just at its beginning, because I don't like rap music very much. Later everything changed, it is a combination of rock and melody inherited from the Cranberries. It is wonderful and I would advise to listen to it in a cold winter evening, because some songs bring a certain warmth.

After the Cranberries broke up, Noel Hogan takes a very different direction... This album contains very eclectic songs, from pop to electro, and it's a real pleasure to listen to it!

I also love the Cranberries and was excited to check this project out. Love it! Reminds me of Zero 7, laid back, different sounds and vocals for each song. I've been listening to this cd over and over. Woo Hoo!
