New Monsoon combines the rhythmic elements of world percussion with energetic acoustic and electric guitar work and a distinctive vocal style. The infectious grooves are propelled by Afro-Cuban and Indian percussion, and influenced by funk, latin, blues and bluegrass forms.
New Monsoon's music always draws appreciative comments from fans of Santana, The Allman Brothers and Dave Matthews. The band has also earned the admiration of acoustic music lovers by blending unique acoustic textures from banjo, dobro and didgeridoo into their sonic repertoire. The dynamic interplay between acoustic and electric instruments, strong vocals and insightful lyrics, and the infusion of North Indian and Afro-Cuban rhythms form a sound never before heard in the Jam Rock world!

I'm really impressed by this San Francisco Bay area band, and this debut album is dynamite. Really unique blend of Rock, Funk, Latin and Blues rhythms with solid acoustic and electric guitar work. These are world-class musicians, and they seem to have found a new pallete to play with.....Indian tabla, congas, timbales, etc. used in bluegrass(!), funk, rock and jazz constructions. Great songs, especially the vocal pieces sung by Heath (bass), that I suspect will find the way to the airwaves, and brilliant folk/rock/jammin' instrumentals featuring masterful acoustic guitar work, and probably the best new electric guitarist I've heard in the last decade. Excellent recording quality despite being a self-produced (read "low budget") debut album, but I'm willing to bet the next one will show up on a major label.

I thoroughly dug this album-highly recommend it and appreciate that it involves only human elements and is not a computerized nightmare, but a group of talented musicians putting in the time to make some quality sound!
