Album Notes

EXOTERIC LOVE is the new music CD by the inimitable MONTY GUY. Originality continues to be his preferred, and best, calling card. This new effort continues to exhibit his fastidious determination to present fresh, stimulating, and pleasing arrangements; in both vocal and instrumental form. The music is enhanced with a superb sound engineering effort. In fact, after the approval for the CD's release, MONTY insisted on an immediate 'distribution halt' to re-engineer the project... "just one more time". This new version is the result of a well made decision based entirely on artistic instinct and the desire to achieve enhanced production quality. Also, the cover artwork is a manifestation of aesthetic delight. In addition, EXOTERIC LOVE has received an invitation to participate in the 52nd GRAMMY AWARDS recognition process, and is included on the ALBUM OF THE YEAR List.

The collection's nine songs opens with the scintillating and vibrant instrumental "WAYRITZAT" (Where It's At). Over the years, there have always been great contemporary pop instrumentals. "I love this type of song; I would really enjoy being part of a good one", says MONTY. "WAYRITZAT" is a quality attempt at instrumental composition, arrangement, and presentation. This song has been awarded a place on the BEST POP INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMANCE List for the 52nd GRAMMYs recognition process.

"YOU GOT ME", a ballad in the R&B tradition, strives to express the joy and depth of earnest love. It is a well constructed composition. The vocal delivery is patient and sincere. This song successfully reveals the vulnerability, gentle caress, and strength of true love. According to Monty, this song represents the CD collection's biggest performance challenge. It seems to have been well met, as "You Got Me" won a place on the 52nd GRAMMYs SONG OF THE YEAR recognition List.

"SPICY GUMBO MAGIC" seeks to achieve an euphoric yet rock solid R&B experience. MONTY's focus and music production objective is to lock in his penchant for synchopated instrumental tones in a deep rhythmic groove, while the orchestration enhances the succulent cornucopia of brass tones with tantalizing aural delight. The song's title accurately describes the work's effort and result, which includes a place on the 52nd GRAMMYs BEST INSTRUMENTAL ARRANGEMENT List.

"24 KARAT LOVE" is a sensuous Kaiso Reggae Pop Ballad which displays the Caribbean influence on the development of MONTY's international exposure to, and appreciation of, the art of music production in various genres. Legend has it that the creation of this song was inspired by the radiant and coruscating countenance of an exceptionally beautiful New York City television journalist. It seems that the patience and sincerity of Monty's vocal caress elevated this song to a place on the BEST MALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE List in the 52nd GRAMMYs selection process.

The song "NO REGRETS" is presented as a mid-tempo R&B pop fusion effort. The tonal orchestration is superb. The lyrics speak to the challenges, euphoria, and lamentations of Love found, enjoyed, and lost. The experience, with all its passion, thrills, and fulfillment is so exhilarating that, despite the remorse at no longer being nestled in the warm and secure arms of Love, there can be "NO REGRETS", for "it was better loving you." This song was awarded a place on the RECORD OF THE YEAR List, the BEST MALE R&B VOCAL PERFORMANCE List, and the BEST R&B SONG List for the exciting 52nd GRAMMYs selection process.

The other titles in MONTY GUY's EXOTERIC LOVE CD show originality, continuing artistic integrity, and a staunch dedication to improving craftsmanship. The musical arrangements are given center stage, as evidenced by the instrumental renditions. This clearly shows that MONTY's main focus is the creation of an enjoyable listening experience. He continues to pursue excellent production quality in the contemporary creative art of popular song styling...just for the Love of it.
