What a great album! Hypnotic, sparse world music under the influence of Indian grooves. Indian music is by no means the only musical influence that makes it's presence known here. This album is something of a musical travelogue of chanting rhythms from around the world. Of particular interest is the masterful melodic construction. The tunes are simple, slowly building works that gently reveal the melodies and textures that grow organically out of the players. It's mostly instrumental but vocals weave into the mix from time to time. This is a true melting pot project, it's not authentic field-style recordings of any one musical style. So if you want music with all the rough edges intact, this might not be your cup of java. If, however, you want to hear some beautiful music that melds together many musical styles with excellent playing, this album should not be missed.
