The latest from Moon Bird,'Repairing the Sacred Hoop', gets even further into the nitty gritty of political and personal insights using a variety of styles and genres. James Kwiecinski, the force behind Moon Bird, once again brings strong messages, ranging from the plight of the American Indian (using spoken word with music) to a scathing review of politics and imperialism with all the suffering it causes in its voracious appetite to have more, in the song 'Fucked-Up Man'. Other songs are of a more personal nature; i.e. one song about his daughter called 'Kalena' and another, with a strong and driving beat, for his wife called 'Turn to Gray'. There are also a couple of wonderful instrumentals thrown in for good measure.
The concept, the Sacred Hoop, comes from American Indian beliefs that all things are intertwined and interrelated and all things are affected by our actions, just as we are affected by everything else. It is time to start taking care of our own evironment, and therefore repairing the sacred hoop. 'Repairing the Sacred Hoop' is sure to please.
