It is not often that we get the chance to hear a CD filled with as much energy and tenderness as Patrick Drayus’ Moonbunnies. Drayus’ lyrical innovation begins with such universal themes as love, anxiety, politics, and longing and shifts gears within the playfulness of his magical wandering, aliens, rainbow eyes, and the beautiful sublimity of love. This CD is more than just a collection of songs, but a meditation into the most resonant categories that make us human. I listen to his songs over and over again. Like a meditation, I am reminded of the reality of my life, and then I am taken in by the intoxicating flow of the sounds, words, and rhythms, the sweetness and transcendence that only artistic brilliance can evoke.
