notes
"SLiP", the new release by The Moon Gypsies, is a refreshing romp from beginning to end. Recorded in their home studio in Madison, WI., and mixed at Smart Studios (home of Butch Vig and Garbage), this original recording ranges from blues to bluegrass, 70's pop to 80's irreverence, 90's singer-songwriter to a taste of the new millennium. The thread that holds it all together is their desire to serve the song .
This recording is so new that the reviewers haven't even gotten to it yet.

Great music for on the road
author: Louise Black (uk)This cd is kept in the car its just perfect for those long journeys when you need something catchy to keep you company along the way. Fantastic.
Artists, Musicians Found Hiding in Wisconsin
author: Bob in KCThis CD literally makes me smile. Folks like Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, the Eagles, J.D. Souther, and even Frank Zappa... they'd all be proud to call these songs their own. The songs change gears and mood and melodies so you don't hear the same voice, the same riffs, the same song, over the course of the CD's eleven songs. (I don't put the track "Sonic Irrelevance" into the 'song' category. It's artistic expression, sure, but it's not a song.) Anyone who appreciates intelligent songwriting and solid musical craftsmanship should put this CD at or near the top of their 'gotta have' list.
For those who like to (soft) Rock...
author: timThe problem with the world of popular music is that if you put out a CD filled with wonderful songs, played well, sung well but aimed at 30+ year olds you'll end up putting the CD out yourself. So have the Moon Gypsies with a follow up to their equally wonderful debut CD. This CD is simple: good lyrics, good hooks, good melodies, thoughtful and funny lyrics, solid vocals and smart all the way around. It isn't flashy, it isn't done by the people who could also be runway models, but rather people like me and maybe you. It connects with me because it is very honest and true. If you like rock with a touch of country and acoustic instruments and done from the heart you should like this.
hope you got a sense of humor Robert
author: JimRobert J is the best writer this side of John Hiatt or Prine And it seems like I saw David Lindley in the band last time :) Seriously, I got a copy when it came out and I really enjoyed the variety, not a one trick pony for sure. Can I open for you guys? I'll do it free :) Jim Congdon
