Album Notes

Hawaiian Music Artist Rocks the Island of Arizona. MOON, born Dana M. Kahele the second youngest of nine children to the late John and Lucille Kahele, is a Pure Hawaiian musician, songwriter, recording artist who resides in the Valley of the Sun ~ Phoenix, AZ. Plans are set to relocate his family back to the Island of Oahu to begin a new chapter in his music journey. Moon, an indie musician, appears at numerous AZ Valley venues promoting and selling his music CDs. CUT ME SOME SLACK is Moon's recent CD that island music fans have been patiently waiting for since his previous CDs A Walk Across the Ocean, Praise Him Island Sytyle Volume 3 and Aloha from the Desert hit the music scene. The title track and the contemporary island medley of “Aloha Kamanini (Lot Kauwe) and Kalei I’E (Traditional) sets the tone for this eloquent instrumental masterpiece. This CD is a complete 12-song collection that captures the beauty, the mystique, and the magical spirit that flows from and beyond the shores of Hawaii. CUT ME SOME SLACK is Moon Kahele’s most versatile music CD consisting of unique Hawaiian contemporary sounds gently blended with the influences of Jazz, Blues and Country Western. Strong audience reactions at live performances in the US and Hawaii inspired this songwriter to follow-up his previous music albums with this new sound and direction. Complementing the title track, the artist has arranged renditions of an old Folk tune “Red River Valley” and included special slack key tunes from his previous projects. The CD ends with a unique narrative and instrumental rendition of “Aloha Oe” written by Hawaii’s last reining monarch - Queen Liliuokalani.

Attended a workshop at Mesa Community College, AZ. Moon was giving a lecture and music performance on the Hawaiian Culture. As a result, I purchased the CD for my Dad's Christmas gift. Beautiful music.

Easy Listening and Soothing

Dear Dana, My wife Sherry purchased both your CDs at one of your concerts at BORDERS December 2006 and I had not heard it until last week because she never took it out of her truck until recently. I listened to it 3 times over and over. What a beautiful CD. It is very listenable and it makes you feel real good all over. For me, that is a high compliment because music is so loud and compressed these days that it wears the ears out, or jangles the nerves, or activates the brain into strain for comprehension. The use of Hawaiian language puts the brain in neutral and I simply feel the effect of the use of the vowels and tones shapes as they affect my subtle bodies. Technically, I also liked the mix with the different guitar, banjo and stringed instrument voices. Your music on this CD, Cut Me Some Slack, just lets me rest in my emotion-body and spirit. It sounds like you would be a good interview on National Public Radio. I have often heard this type of acoustic music there. Your CD has very good vibrations to it and the spirit energy of the last song is well felt. Good luck!
