THRILLS AND CHILLS WAS PICKED AS THE JPF MUSIC AWARDS SURF ALBUM OF THE YEAR FOR 2006!!!
Surfing, monsters and spies. What could these three totally different subjects have to do with each other? Plenty, when thrown into the kooky, spooky world of the Moon-Rays.
Existing in a Twilight Zone time of sharkskin suits and platinum blonde bombshells. Where teen lovers parked on lonely roads could be interruped at any time by bulbous headed creatures from outer space.
Where your next door neighbor may or may not work for an organization called \"Thrush\" and the Creature from the Black Lagoon might be hiding in your backyard pool.
This is a place where tiki torches light the night sky, exotic drinks flow like water and nobody gives a damn about second hand smoke.
So break out the Bongos and Mai Tai\'s Daddy-o, THE MOON-RAYS HAVE LANDED!!
Influenced by everything from James Bond to Vampira, their music is spooky, it\'s hip, it\'s danceable, but most of all it is COOL !
They must not be the only ones to think so, because one of Chicago\'s top three rock stations WXRT picked Thrills and Chills as best instrumental release for 2002 on their local anesthetic program...not bad for a spook band.
The Moon Rays were born of a concept brought on by the recording of the theme from WGN\'s Creature Features TV show. About 6 months later they were approached to do a full length cd by the same studio. The decision then was to do a mixture of spy-surf with a Halloween overtone to it.
We were all fans of the Man from UNCLE, Mission Impossible and such, as well as the \"Ventures In Space\" album and wanted to do something that had that same kind of feel to it but with a little more of a Mancini edge.
You can hear the Moon-Rays \"1313 Mockingbird Lane\" featured in two upcoming films this year. \"Dr. Horrors Erotic House of Idiots\" and \"American Scary\"

Altogether ooky - just like the Addams Family!

This album is like a really fun Halloween novelty record - except that you can play it for your grown-up friends and at kid's parties, too. The Moon-Rays are *good*, and even when they're doing a silly novelty song, their skill and talent show through. This disk is definitely going into my Halloween seasonal mix!

Thills & Chills....just what the listener wanted!

This cd-r is superb! Another winner from the Moon-Rays. While they're not really a surf-instro band, they're in there somewhere. Sometimes it sounds like a full orchestra, and other times it's instro. All instrumental and covering a bunch of genre's, it's a very cool cd. I'll be buying every cd this band releases. This is one of the most underrated bands out there. And I do mean "out there". If you're into surf, instro, lounge, exotica, etc you won't be disappointed. A highly recommended cd-r that will brings you hours & hours of Thrills & Chills. Buy it now!

Sinister surfers' spy-fi sensation!

Finally thanks to CD Baby I got my hands on this great CD! Imagine Frankenstein doing the Transylvania Twist with the foxiest Bond girl of your imagination... or Clouseau practising his karate with Vampira for a change. If Herman Munster had a license to kill, this would be the music he would hear in his head ALL THE TIME! Agent 1313, license to chill!!! Spy-fi from the dark side!!!!!!
