Imaginative, fun indie rock packaged into a very cohesive album.
author: John Drollette
This is a well-done studio release from Tahoe indie rockers. All Day is a catchy gem with rare-in-indie-rock element of groove! The AM-radio-like vocal FX on Come on Ray are great, and distinguish the radiospeak from the narrator's thoughts. Nice lo-fi solution that clarifies the story. Also, the Come on Ray synth is really good -- sometimes live it seemed a little less...well...ready?
Disappointments is great -- very zippy with more energy than I've heard before. Radio has really come along from the early days -- it works well here in a confident, mature presentation. Overall, the record flows well, gaining momentum in the middle and a strong finish.
The boys did a great job on the recording, mixing and mastering, and the vastly underappreciated art of arranging the tracks on the album -- in this iTunes era, sometimes musicians forget that they're making an album, not a mix tape!
