Album Notes

He is considered to be one of the younger bass promises from Spain and currently works as electric bass teacher and professional musician in Barcelona.

He achieved a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music and furthermore, he had the chance to learn from music masters such as Russell Malone, Gary Grainger, Yellowjackets, Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, Richard Bona, Richie Goods, Victor Bailey and Victor Wooten, among others.

Throughout his career, he has worked with musicians such as Christian Howes, Federico Lechner, Héctor Salazar, José Antonio Ramos and Andreas Prittwitz. He also took part in an hommage to Jaco Pastorius as guest bassist, back in 2002 (FNAC - Madrid).

His name has been linked to the Canary Islands Jazz Festival for many years. He was part of the programme in 2001, sharing the stage with Dave Weckl, and 2004, as the bassist of Paco Marin's group, support band for Victor Wooten Band. His relationship with the festival is, though, deeper as he has been in charge of the coordination of seminars and master classes within it.

He recorded his first solo album in february 2005, "So lonely". Chuck Loeb, Nono García, Valentín Iturat, Andreas Prittwitz, José Antonio Ramos, Antonio Toledo, Juan Carlos Melián 'el pana', Mariano Díaz, Sergio Martínez and Inoidel González took part in the project.

EL TORERO DE LOS SONIDOS GRAVES
author: Sergio Mattoso - BRAZIL
Another great talent who certainly deserves international recognition. Young bassist from Spain, Charlie Moreno, is without no doubt one more virtuoso to pay attention to. Let´see some examples : He is excelent composer and has recorded great interpretations of “Message in a Bottle” and “Favorite Things”, brilliantly using the tapping technique. His solos are fluent and tasty and his bass and voice version of “Time after time” beautiful. Now, above all folks , that ´s a musician who does not deny his roots. Charlie, you are no "Extraño" at all when you do not forget your references from your motherland. And that´s what makes a difference in my opinion. Fellow bassplayers all over the world, what is the use of becoming another clone of Marcus Miller ? Find your own voice and never ever forget your own roots ! As for you, "mi amigo de Spaña", I will be looking forward to hear some more Flamenco style in the future OK ?

Finally a musicians musician
author: Cameron
This CD really delivers. Charlie passionatly captures every mood, there is something for everyone on this CD. There is an emotional side to his music that is soooo soothing. Also as a bassist, I really got into the techniques that he lays down. You won't be disapointed.
