Album Notes

In her debut album, Morgan Doctor draws on her influences from working with numerous singer/songwriters, world music groups, jazz groups and kirtan walli/wallahs. This album, in its simplicity and spaciousness, creates a beautiful landscape for the listener to experience and get lost in. Morgan's drumming, with her refined and melodic style, has often been likened to such drummer as Steve Gadd. She has played with too many established musicians to name. beutiful mystery

One of the many reasons that this album is so beautiful is that it has the personal feel of great intimate analog recordings of hushed songwriters with the most amazing electronica and soundscapes. This album has no boundries nor barriers - and that is a rare thing to find, and something that is a true gem to all who experience it.

This album brings you into yourself
author: Lia G.
It's hard to describe this album with an analytical mind; it is simply - and sublimely - experiential. I listen and I feel like I am riding my bike with my eyes closed, feeling completely safe and satisfied. I remember a favorite moment as a young girl lying on a grassy hill on a warm day, or a 4am solitary walk down the streets of Amsterdam just after a short rainfall. Every moment that comes to me has the common signature of being alone in myself, floating in casual thought, or no thought at all...just feeling. I listen and life is kind, everything makes sense, and I have no desires outside of breathing and enjoying quietly. Maybe this is what she means by "Is This Home". What's interesting is that the music is catchy too. All day at work I had echoes of Montreal playing in my head. It was lovely because it carried with it some of that peace that I had felt the night before. Just what I needed in the middle of a stressful day.

In a world of musicians who assault us with opinions and demands for attention, Morgan Doctor simply asks, Is This Home...yes, I think so.
